& Handmade Sewing Groups

Here at Hesketh Emporium we love to unite makers and creatives with people and organisations in need:
We were here when Covid struck and Headbands for Heroes UK helped tens of thousands of key workers to wear masks more comfortably.
We help to restore sewing machines and gift them to people who want to learn but may not be in a financial position to buy a sewing machine.
We teach sewing in our Wigan sewing groups and we love to teach soap making, lotion making and jam making …we just love to teach and help our community.
Now we’re creating a place where our talented community makes bonnets which will be distributed to hospitals where they are needed – all free of charge.
I will start by posting the patterns and how-to guides. Then we will add sign-up forms for makers and request forms for hospitals, plus all the other admin around our new endeavour. Find patterns, volunteer sign-up and more information over on our Facebook page – Bonnets for Babies.
In the meantime you can help by spreading the word, getting your needles, hooks and machines ready and showing your interest so I can start collecting information.
Thank you for your support!

Headbands for Heroes UK is a group that has been set up to help our Key Workers to be comfortable while they work in very difficult times by making handmade accessories for PPE comfort.

Handmade with Hesketh Emporium
Handmade was created for community – a place where community can become a family.
We aim to teach sewing and craft skills, socialise and reduce isolation. My heart is to make a place where people can have fun, learn new skills and relax and get to know and understand one another better.
I am passionate about passing on my love of sewing and making to others, and to use these skills to make useful creations that are used and gifted to others.
Learning a new skill and building a community while we do it is what Handmade is all about. We learn to sew together and make special items every time we gather. We come together to celebrate what each of us can achieve and build relationships while we do it.
